Livia Lisboa

Photographic artist Livia Lisboa was born and raised in Brazil. With a German mother and a Brazilian father, she has always experienced the fact that there are often different perspectives on things. Nothing is absolute, equal, or as real as it seems; there are always different viewpoints.
Her camera has always been her constant companion. Even as a 14-year-old, she often experimented with slides, layering them and printing them on paper. These were the first precursors of her fascinating photographic compositions. Today, she combines her acquired skills in graphic design software with digital photography, creating even more interesting effects than she could with slides back then.
In the series ‘Hamburg in Focus’, one can recognize the intuitive Brazilian perspective on the subjects. Different viewpoints merge into one and become etched in the viewer's memory. The superimposed images nevertheless allow for a clearly recognizable view of the Hanseatic city.
In the new series “Wishful Minds”, the artist uses as a basis lithographs by Moritz Rugendas, which he made in Brazil in 1823, and combines them with animals that she photographed in Africa, as well as with photos of flowers and plants.
