“The shorter a picture lasts, the longer the experiences. The faster an image, the longer the path.”

Carl Sebastian Lepper started drawing in his early childhood. His parents recognized his artistic talent and encouraged his path into art.

During a visit to the USA in 1982, he was very impressed by the light, the landscapes and the attitude to life there. This stay was to have a lasting impact on his artistic work.

With his first work with oil paint he captured this new attitude to life, his artistic work became more and more virtuosic in the following years, his tools are oil paint, brush and spatula.

In the years that followed, he undertook numerous trips to Mexico, Seychelles, Thailand and many Southeast European countries, where he received a variety of suggestions for the implementation of his artistic ideas. Many of his current works show these influences.

Lepper has been living in Hamburg since 2001 and the city with the harbor has become an integral part of his artistic work.

The works are first created in his head, go through his stomach and then he imagines the finished picture on the canvas and begins to paint.

His painting/mixing technique, developed and refined over many years, gives his ideas time and form to become visible and alive.
