Jan Peter Ehlers

Jan Peter Ehlers' photographs radiate the enthusiasm he felt and captured while taking them. Sometimes they show the beautiful side of something that generally goes unnoticed; other times it is the extraordinary perspective on something striking that characterizes the photos. The images are also distinguished by their high technical quality.
Jan Peter Ehlers lives and works in Schleswig-Holstein, north of Hamburg, near the west coast. He enjoys the proximity to the metropolis of Hamburg, which has increasingly fascinated him over the years. His photographs encompass nature and still lifes, as well as "manufactured" subjects such as architecture and harbors.
He explains that despite his enthusiasm for technology, he photographs in a relaxed manner and prefers to set everything manually: aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus. The technical aspect stems from his desire to achieve the best possible image quality. However, when he's actually taking photos, the technology operates intuitively, in the background, allowing him to be fully present with what he sees and otherwise switch off. In short: emotion is more important to him than technology. This creates the harmonious interplay of seeing, capturing, and reproducing.
