The Port of Hamburg offers a wealth of subjects for artistic representation. The port facilities, container bridges, the Elbphilharmonie concert hall, cranes, and ships impressively demonstrate the connection between aesthetics and industry. Digital image processing allows for the creation of unique works offering new perspectives and insights into the port.
"I'm constantly asked why I love this port in Hamburg so much. In every light, in every kind of weather, in every season, on every new day, the industrial landscape of the port offers unique motifs that are absolutely worth photographing and that are one of a kind in this combination." That's what the artist says about his work. His love for these subjects is evident in his art. The movements of the cranes, container bridges, and ships become recognizable and tangible in his pictures. Through his interplay of light, color, and form, the port appears both familiar and yet foreign. The interplay between the familiar forms of port life and the changes the artist makes in his works creates a tension that is clearly perceptible to the viewer. Due to the port's unique location within the city of Hamburg, visitors can directly experience this port life and understand what the artist means when he says, "I love this port and I love the city of Hamburg."
